Advice
The forum noted the concerns raised by Transit Systems regarding
the proposed closure of Campbell Street likely to have a significant impact on
bus operations, particularly as the proposed event footprint differs from
previous years.
·
Bus layover arrangements: Buses currently laying
over on Campbell Street will require alternative layover areas to accommodate
the closure.
·
Bus circulation and additional travel time:
Buses currently looping via Campbell Street will require additional time to
complete the revised loop via Hay Street and Elizabeth Street.
·
Bus access: Further clarification is required
regarding bus access arrangements at George Street and Rawson Place during the
event.
Transit System would appreciate these operational impacts being considered as part of the event planning process to ensure appropriate arrangements are in place and minimise disruption to bus service.
City staff advised that the comments by Transit Systems will be forwarded to the events team to investigate.
