Recommendation

It is recommended that the Committee review the following reallocation of parking on the western side of Pyrmont Street, Pyrmont:

(A)      Between the points 84 metres and 96 metres (two car spaces) south of John Street as: "4P 8am-8pm Electric Vehicles Only While Charging" and "No Parking Electric Vehicles Excepted While Charging All Other Times".

(B)      Between the points 96 metres and 98.4 metres south of John Street as "Loading Zone Ticket 7am-6pm Mon-Fri" and "1P Ticket Other Times Permit Holders Excepted Area 20".

The Committee raised no issues with this Item.

Background

Council at its meeting on 26 June 2023, resolved to adopt the Electrification of Transport in the City Strategy and Action Plan. The strategy outlines key actions to support this transition, including, advocacy, and actions within the City’s control.

Action 20 of the Strategy outlines that the City will work with private sector providers to trial paid on-street electric vehicle charging in residential areas with constrained private charging opportunities. This should be cost neutral to the City and avoid negative impacts on the public domain and residential amenity.

In collaboration with Ausgrid and EVX who are the charging point operator, the City is proposing to install dedicated on-street parking for charging of electric vehicle using Ausgrid infrastructure
