Recommendation

It is recommended that the Forum review the reallocation of parking on the northern side of Davies Street, Surry Hills between the points 46.5 metres and 56.5 metres (two car spaces) east of Crown Street as "No Parking".

Advice

The Forum agreed to defer this item pending a site meeting with Cr Worling, City staff and residents. City staff to further investigate on:

·         Road Rule and Roads Act regarding blocking of property driveway (noting TfNSW advised that where a road condition doesn’t comply with the standard then the City is obliged to correct the matter).

·         Reducing the width of the parking bays within the proposed Shared Zone to encourage cars to park closer to the kerb and improve driveway access

·         Whether parking permits are being incorrectly issued to residents with off-street parking

Staff advice on the above will be prepared prior to the site meeting.

Background

A resident of Davies Street, Surry Hills as requested consideration of “No Parking” restriction opposite their property’s driveway. The resident advises that the proposed parking bay arrangement associated with the construction of the new shared zone in the street will reduce the available space for vehicle manoeuvring in/out of their property. As a result, they are concerned that access to and from their garage will be restricted once the works are completed.
